Phuket, Thailand - 27th November 2009. Ray Clemence, one of the most decorated footballers in England history is warmly welcomed to Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket by Managing Director of Laguna Phuket, Mr. Michael Ayling,, Managing Director of Spa Operations, Banyan Tree Spas and Angsana Spas, Mr. Ravi Chandran and General Manager of Sheraton Grande Laguna, Mr. Klaus Christandl where he will enjoy a holiday with family and friends.
In a career that spanned 23 years, Clemence made more than 1,000 appearances at club level and represented England 61 times.
After ending his playing career, Clemence joined the coaching staff at Spurs before joining Barnet as joint manager with Gary Phillips. A few months later, he would take sole control of the side and was at the helm for the next two seasons before he was approached by then England manager Glenn Hoddle to take on the role of goalkeeping coach for the national side.
Clemence was awarded an MBE by the Queen for his services to football.
Still part of the England set up, Clemence was voted the greatest goalkeeper ever in Total Football magazine's poll and was voted in at number 11 on the Liverpool FC official website poll of 100 Players that Shook the Kop.
